This club started in Borders and we decided to keep it running. So far, so good, we've been going for over four years and the age range varies. Our youngest member is 8 and our oldest is 12 so it can be really tricky to find books they all enjoy. Although, we've been pretty successful recently!
The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens
They loved this one, it got 9/10!
Ravenwood was both exciting and mysterious, a book I would definitely recommend to a friend. My favourite part was when Ark and Mucum went down the ore mine with the rootshooters. It had lots of excitement, especially when they met the worm. My favourite character was probably Joe as he was quite comical.’ Angus
‘Reeaallly good!’ Rachel
The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens
The Emerald Atlas was a big hit with my book club. Their delight was obvious as they excitedly talked over one another, desperate for everyone to hear how much they loved this book.
Here’s what they thought ...
‘I think The Emerald Atlas was great, the book was both entertaining and funny, yet serious and magical. It brought new and interesting people, places and creatures to the fantasy genre. My favourite characters were Captain/King Robbie and Dr Pym. My favourite part was pages 182-183. Overall I think it was a great book and it gets a big thumps up! I give this book a 9/10. Angus
‘It is really cool’ Gabrielle
‘One of the best books I’ve ever read, quirky and serious wrapped up in one!’ Isobel
‘Absolutely amazing. Best book ever!’ Rachel
Sky Hawk by Gill Lewis
'I think Sky Hawk was a great book, it had suspense, it had joy and it had sorrow. The book was both heart warming but sad and it was educational yet exciting. My favourite character was Callum because he was kind and the only person who would befriends Iona. Sky Hawk was an excellent read that I would recommend to children of all ages.'
